BJU Accredited by National Association of Schools of Music

Bob Jones University is now accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in music. According to Dr. Michael Moore, Chair of the Division of Music at BJU, earning accreditation from NASM has been the “gold standard for music programs in higher education for a century now.” To read more about this exciting achievement, click the button below.

Premiere Events for Homecoming 2024

Registration for Homecoming 2024 is live, and we are thrilled to see registration for individual events begin to increase! While there are many events throughout the weekend of October 11–12, we want to highlight three events in this issue of The Voice. On Friday, October 11, at 6 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium, the new president of Bob Jones University, Dr. Josh Crockett, will deliver the State of the University Address. Directly following this address, alumni will gather in the Kalmbach Room of the Dining Common for the premiere Homecoming event — the Alumni Dinner — where the top alumni award recipients for 2024 will be revealed. Last year, tickets for this event sold out, so be sure to take advantage of the Early Bird Special and get your tickets by August 31.

Affinity Reunions will take place throughout the weekend and include the BJU Press, the Choral program (all BJU choirs), the Premed/Predent program, the Family and Consumer Science (Home Economics) program, the Division of Communication, the School of Business, the BJU Libraries (Mack and Music), Barge Hospital, The Printing Film Production, and Student Development and Discipleship. If you are a current or former member of these affinity groups, this is YOUR year! Invitation emails and postcards are coming your way soon.

Click the button below for more information about the whole weekend or to register for the State of the University Address, the Alumni Dinner or your Affinity Reunion. If you have other questions, feel free to email Alumni Relations at [email protected].

Teach from Dehart Academy

Matt DeHart, a 2019 BJU graduate from the School of Education and Human Services, is the founder and chairman of Teach from DeHart Academy in Pennsylvania. As this organization rapidly approaches its opening semester, Matt took time to update the Alumni Relations Department on the progress he and his team are making.

We are excited to share that the Teach from DeHart Academy, a private, community-centered academy in Arnold, PA, is planning to open in Fall 2025. The academy will be a first-of-its-kind model in that it will educate 5th–8th graders, along with their families, providing GED programming for the parents and guardians. The goal is to uplift an entire community through educational excellence.

Our team was blessed this past month to have a demolition crew from South Carolina come to demo the inside of the building, and we have updated the outside of the building with fresh coats of paint.

We are working through our massive fundraising push to complete our $3 million construction by the Fall of 2025 so we can open our doors and change our community. We are also seeking partnerships and donations of materials, including flooring, ceiling tiles, paint, HVAC systems, windows and more.

God’s hand has been evident in this mission from the very beginning — He asked us to dream big and lean on our faith to make this school happen. Only through the Lord’s mercy and guidance will we see these doors open and lives changed for generations.

EDUCamp Podcast

Work side-by-side with a K9 law enforcement officer and their four-legged partner. Prepare a pizza the size of an elephant in the shape of Italy. Create, model, program and operate a robot in the battle arena, or star in a dramatic production after just one week of practice. All these opportunities and more wait for those who attend EDUcamp each summer on the campus of Bob Jones University.

Dr. Matthew Weathers, Program Director for EDUcamp, took some time with the Alumni Relations Department to share the exciting ways summer camps at BJU have been progressing and growing in their mission to impact the lives of young people before they reach college.

Exclusion of MLM and P2P Selling

As the Alumni Relations department at Bob Jones University, we prioritize integrity and transparency within our community. To maintain these values and ensure the best experience for all users, we are unable to list Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or Peer-to-Peer (P2P) links in the small business section of our Resource web page.

What does this mean?

  1. No MLM: We do not allow any business models that involve recruiting others into a hierarchical structure where compensation is based on the recruitment efforts of those below them rather than on actual sales or services.
  2. No P2P Selling: We do not support the direct selling of goods or services from one individual to another without proper oversight or regulation. This includes but is not limited to direct person-to-person sales, often conducted through social networks or other informal channels.

Why have we made this decision?

  • Protection of Users: We aim to protect our alumni from potential financial harm or exploitation that can be associated with MLM.
  • Maintaining Trust: By excluding MLM and P2P selling, we maintain the trust and credibility of our community, ensuring a safe and reliable environment for all participants.

If you come across any content or activity on our platform (including social media sites) that violates these guidelines, please report it immediately. Together, we can foster a community built on fairness, trust, and mutual respect.

Thank you for being a part of the BJU Alumni community.
